Knowledge is Power

Microsoft Ignite Conference

“Knowledge is power” is popular quote and I tend to agree with it. In this post I will mention 3 best ways (that I prefer) to gain knowledge about Microsoft products and technologies.

MOC – Microsoft Official Courseware

The best way to learn about Microsoft products and technologies is to attend five day Microsoft official course (MOC). MOC are intensive professional courses intended for IT professionals and developers who build, support, and implement solutions by using Microsoft products and technologies. They can help you learn a new Microsoft technology, prepare you for your Microsoft certification or help you start a career in IT – they are a great way to fuel your skills and career success as they are designed to cover the topics that employers know are mission-critical in the real world. All MOC are delivered exclusively by Microsoft Learning Partners and instructed by certified technical and instructional experts: Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs).

Microsoft’s conferences (Ignite, Tech Summit,…)

Another great way to gain info about latest products are Microsoft’s conferences. The largest is Ignite. This year it will take place in Orlando, Florida (September 25 – 29) and there will be more than 700 sessions! You can watch old sessions HERE for free or download all of them via PowerShell script. I downloaded all videos and presentations just after they were published (few presentations and videos missing at that time) and the download size was 135 GB (1450 files). Another great conference is Tech Summit – this is free conference with many Microsoft engineering experts from Redmond. Many sessions from Ignite are also on Tech Summit. Other Microsoft events are listed HERE.

MVA – Microsoft Virtual Academy

If you prefer learning online, you should join MVA. Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA) offers free IT training, divided in 4 paths:

  • Developers
  • IT Pros
  • Data Pros
  • Students

Happy learning !
